“A retail company starting its own home decor brand needs a good strategy. A strategy not just to survive but to stand out from the crowd.

But most importantly it needs someone who can manage the whole brand. On being hired as a technical designer, I was assigned this brand.

Diwali 2021

Below are some of the tasks I had to take care of.

My Responsibilities:

  • Designs (Logo, and Catalogue )
  • Brand management (Brand Presentation, the voice of the brand)
  • Designing posts for social media
  • Packaging (Thank you card, hangtags, and stickers)
  • Strategies (Content calendar)

BRAND LOGO:

My first task was to make a logo for this decor brand.

Brand Name: KANIRY
KAN: Initials of 3 founders
CANARY: A small yellow bird <Fly High>

NOTE alongside: “brand is for selling all sorts of lifestyle/ home goods but we want to keep the logo a little diversified so that we are open to selling other categories as well in the future.”

MY PROCESS:

There were some questions and points that came up to my mind?
1. Logo would be placed on different products and packaging as well.
2. Should define our company as home decor.
3. It should tell that there are three founders running this brand and they want to take this brand to the top.

THANK YOU CARDS:

Designing this helped me understand what our customers want to know about us. If we have a website, it's good to share the website link. If not, then we can give the QR code to one of the social media handles (which is exactly what we did).

REALITY: No customer actually cares about the thank you card unless they see very good packaging, the card has some crucial information, or if the products are extraordinary.

THINGS TO REMEMBER: Thank you card includes a brand name, a small message for the customers, what it's all about (CREATIVELY), and a social media handle.

HANGTAGS:

A tag we place on our products to let people know the brand it belongs to. Each product shipped must have a tag that defines our brand.

WRAPPING SHEET DESIGN:

Wrapping the products just to keep them safe from traveling and for branding most importantly.

STICKER DESIGN:

A simple round sticker is pasted on our cartons.

CATALOGUE:

A list of products that includes the basic information about each one of them. The first few pages are designed in the below manner:

Software: Adobe Illustrator

FACEBOOK COVER PICTURE IDEAS:

There were some points we kept in our mind to showcase the products of most of the categories.

Option 2:

PS. A technical designer is supposed to work in as many verticals as possible related to design. It was quite a journey with them.

If you liked my work and journey, you can appreciate by giving claps on this post.
